    What is Culinary Circle?

Culinary Circle is Supervalu's premium brand of restaurant-inspired food that addresses consumer growing interest in new and easy dining in alternatives at a time when the increased costs of gas and other household necessities makes it harder for them to dine out as often as they'd like.

The Culinary Circle brand features an exciting variety of easy-to-prepare foods, such as on-the-go meals, elegant hors d'oeuvres, high-end desserts and artisan breads, made with high-quality ingredients and priced 20-25 percent below casual restaurant food. With Culinary Circle products, consumers will now be able to enjoy the convenience, variety and interesting tastes and flavor combinations they've found at casual restaurants right in their own homes.

What is a Kosher product or store?

The Hebrew word "kosher" means fit or proper as it relates to dietary (kosher) laws. It means that a given product is permitted and acceptable in accordance with Hebrew beliefs.

A Kosher store carries Orthodox Union certified Meat, Bakery, and Service Deli items. Each store listed as a "Kosher" store employs a Mashgiach [mahsh-gee-ahkh]. A Mashgiach is an Orthodox Rabbi, or a person appointed and approved by an Orthodox Rabbi, who inspects slaughterhouses, meat markets, and restaurants where food assumed to be kosher is prepared for the public. Kosher items have to be handled separately and within very specific guidelines, and they also are blessed. Because of these special guidelines and procedures, special equipment and specialized employees are needed to oversee such a department.

What if Self Checkout is the only lane open?

Typically, there is always a traditional checkout lane open, with the possible exception of during the overnight hours in our 24 hour stores. If self-checkout is the only lane open and the customer chooses not to use it, the attendant monitoring the lanes may scan the order for the customer on the self-checkout lane or have a traditional lane opened.

Cub Foods: The customer is able to purchase alcohol at the self-checkout lane, but the sale does require age verification by the self-checkout attendant.
